Baseball Division Breakdowns

A Division

6, 7, and 8 year olds

  1. Ages of A division will 6,7, and 8 year olds
  2. Games played on Schock Field
  3. Instructional league with pitching machine
  4. All coaches need to be Cal Ripken certified
  5. 12-13 players per roster
  6. Objectives are to develop game knowledge, offensive and defensive fundamentals, knowledge of different positions, and enjoyment of the game.
  7. All kids bat.
  8. 7 and 8 year olds will be eligible for the Cal Ripken 8u machine pitch all star team.
  9. Players must participate in 80% of their recreation season games to be eligible for the all star selection process.

*Any player participating in less then 80% of games and interested in participation in all stars will be subject to baseball committee review.

AA Division

7,  8, 9 and 10 year olds

  1. Ages of A division will 7, 8, 9, and 10 year olds
  2. Games played on Schock and Smith Field
  3. All kids eligible to pitch
  4. All coaches need to be Cal Ripken certified
  5. Objectives are to develop game knowledge, offensive and defensive fundamentals, knowledge of different positions, and enjoyment of the game
  6. Instructional league with no post season tournament
  7. All kids bat
  8. No more than 2 innings of pitching per game per player
  9. Stealing only allowed half way through the season, rep and coaches would pick a target date to allow stealing. Give coaches time to develop catchers and pitchers
  10. Four (4) outfielders used in AA division
  11. Coach pitch after 4  balls on a batter, minimum of 3 pitches from coach from the pitching rubber
  12. 90 minute time limit on all games, no new inning to begin after 90 minute mark
  13. 7 -10 year olds will be eligible for the Cal Ripken 8u, 9u, and 10u Cal  Ripken all-star teams
  14. Players must participate in 80% of their recreation season games to be eligible for the all-star selection process

*Any player participating in less than 80% of games and interested in participation in all stars will be subject to baseball committee review.

AAA Division

9-12 year olds

  1. Ages of AAA division will 9, 10, 11, 12 year olds
  2. Games played on Smith and Coker Field
  3. All player’s eligible to pitch
  4. All player’s bat
  5. All coaches need to be Cal Ripken certified
  6. Coaches are to participate in the Major’s draft with a major’s team affiliate.
  7. Objectives are to develop game knowledge, offensive and defensive fundamentals, knowledge of different positions, and enjoyment of the game.
  8. All players eligible to be selected to 9u, 10u, 11u, and 12u Cal Ripken All Star teams
  9. Players must participate in 80% of their recreation season games to be eligible for the all-star selection process.

Majors Division

9-12 year olds

  1. Games played on Coker Field
  2. 11-12 man rosters
  3. All coaches need to be Cal Ripken certified
  4. All players bat
  5. All standard baseball rules apply
  6. All players not assigned to a major’s team will participate in Majors/AAA draft. All players will be selected to a major’s team and participate in the major’s tryout.
  7. Players after the two week tryout process will be assigned to a major’s team or AAA team.
  8. Players must participate in 80% of their recreation season games to be eligible for the all-star selection process.

Rookie Divison

4,5,and 6 year olds

  1. Ages of rookie division will 4,5, and 6 year olds
  2. Games played on t-ball field
  3. Hitting will take place with a tee
  4. All coaches need to be Cal Ripken certified
  5. 8-11 kids per roster
  6. Objectives are to develop game knowledge, offensive and defensive fundamentals, knowledge of different positions, and enjoyment of the game
  7. All kids bat each inning
  8. All players play in the field
  9. Games are limited to 45-60 minutes
  10. Outs and runs will not be recorded

 

Softball Division Breakdowns

8u Division

  1. 5, 6, 7 and 8 years old
  2. Instruction league with machine pitch . (jugs pitching machine)
  3. Players 5 years old must have 1 year of rookie league division experience to play 8u division.
  4. Games played at Gillis and Schock fields.
  5. All coaches need to be Babe Ruth certified.
  6. 9 to 12 player roster
  7. Objective is to learn beginning skills of softball. Learn terminology, rules, offensive and defensive fundamentals. Environment where the players will have a love for the game.
  8. All players bat.
  9. 7 and 8 year old players are eligible for the 8u Babe Ruth All Star team.                               
  10. Players can move up a division if the Representative of the League agrees that the player’s ability will allow her to play at the 10u division.
10u Division
  1. 9 and 10 years old
  2. This is a combination player pitch and coach pitch league.
  3. If pitcher pitches 4 balls to batter the batting team coach will have up to 3 pitches to pitch to the batter.(example: a count of 2 strikes and 4 balls on the batter. Coach will enter game and pitch up to 3 pitches to the batter).
  4. Players can move up a division if the Representative of the League agrees that the player’s ability will allow her to play at the 12u division.
  5. All coaches need to be Babe Ruth certified.
  6. All players bat.
  7. 10 to 13 players per team.
  8. Objective is develop skills to prepare players for the 12u division.
  9. 90 minute time limit on all games. No new inning to begin after 90 minutes.
  10. Games played on Gillis and Schock fields.
  11. and 10 year old players are eligible to be selected to the 10u All Star team. (2014 10u team competed in the 2014 Ohio Valley regional tournament in Cincinnati, Ohio.)

12u Division

  1. 11 and 12 years old
  2. Competitive division
  3. Games played on Gillis Field at East Side. Inter league games played at Harris, East End and Osceola Parks.
  4. 11 to 13 players per team.
  5. All coaches need to be Babe Ruth certified.
  6. All players bat.
  7. All players not assigned to a 12u roster from a previous year draft will participate in a draft. All players will  be drafted to a 12u team.
  8. Players are eligible to be selected to 12u Babe Ruth All Star team.
  9. 12u All Star team qualified and played in both the 2013 and 2014 Babe Ruth World Series in Alachua, Florida.  The team finished 8th at the 2014 World Series, while winning both the State and Ohio Valley Regional Tournaments.

14u, 16u and 18u Division

  1. 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 years old
  2. Games played on Gillis field at East Side. Inter-league games played at Harris, East End and Osceola Parks.
  3. 11 to 15 players per roster
  4. All coaches must be Babe Ruth certified.
  5. This is a competitive and fun league for those players that want to continue their softball play in this great sport.
  6. Players are eligible to be selected to Babe Ruth All Star team.
  7. Babe Ruth in 2014 had a World Series at the 16u level.  Babe Ruth plans to add a World Series at the 14u and 18u levels.
