Dear East Side Families,

Spring is here and it’s time to start getting excited about baseball and softball! I am the new President of the East Side Youth Baseball Softball Association and want to start by telling you a little about myself and my involvement over the years at East Side.

I have been the Vice President of Baseball the last three years here at East Side, and I know I have some big shoes to follow with TJ Sult stepping aside. I started at East Side eight years ago and joined the board as a member at large. Since that time, I have coached at each level we have to offer as well as the All-Star teams, and I am still coaching in the junior’s program (13 and over) through East Side with the 15u team this year. My experiences at East Side have been unforgettable and my approach has been to try to always leave things better then when I found them, both personally and professionally.

I would like to personally welcome each one of you to the 2022 East Side Youth Baseball Softball Association Season. We have several new board members this year that are bringing a lot of enthusiasm and passion to our park and we cannot wait to make this the best season yet at East Side! Some of the projects we are focusing on are a redesigning of our logo, updating our website (including the registration tool), and enhancing our communications with all our families.

One new program already underway this winter is the new East Side Elite off-season workout programs for baseball and softball. These programs feature workouts with a focus on speed and agility and get the kids some early spring baseball games before the recreational season starts in May – at a much lower cost than other travel programs. Plus, your players get more time playing on the best youth baseball and softball fields in the state (in my opinion) thanks to the dedication and hard work of Rae Schreiner! We are also looking to grow our juniors program to give more of our players a chance to keep learning the game after the age of 12 rather than feeling like travel ball is their only option. If you have a child who will be playing their last 12u season this year, stay tuned for more info during this season.

As I mentioned above, we have several new volunteers on the board or in new positions so I would like to list the members of our Executive Board for 2022:

Vice President of Baseball: Tom Cleveland

Vice President of Softball: Pete Gillis

Treasurer: Andy Kinnucan

Secretary: George Ross

Baseball Player Agent: Matthew Blazejewski

Softball Player Agent: Shea Gibbs

Also listed on our website is the rest of the board members names and positions for you to reference if you have any questions regarding their involvement.

Finally, please know that the board meets on the second Monday of every month on the 2nd floor of the East Side club house at 7:30 P.M. Any member of the East Side Community is welcome to join our meetings as it takes an army of passionate and enthusiastic people to make this park great. We welcome your questions and feedback on any topics that will make East Side a better place for our players, volunteers, and parents.

I look forward to seeing you at the park and let’s have a great 2022 season!

Coby Deal

East Side President
